From 1990 onwards, IKA Kerala conducts regular programs every year, like state tournaments, training camps, demonstrations, seminars and other events to promote the activities. IMAF India was held from December 6th to 12th in 2012 at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, Palayam and for the first time, Kerala witnessed Kyokushin experts from Japan and from more than 15 other countries demonstrating
their fighting skills, to win the title for the 13th Asian Karate Tournament.
The event was graced with the presence of Shihan Peter Chong as the Supreme Judge and the Honbu representatives, Shihan Nobuyuki Kamio and Sensei Joji
Hibino.
Kerala's own ancient martial art, Kalarippayattu was promoted in this international mega event with the exhibition of great skills by our own northern and southern Kalari experts.
